It has been inspiring for me to pray with the Manager of Committees on Publication’s Quarterly Update and look for what stands out to me.
This is what has stood out to me and I would love to hear from you what has stood out to you if you would like to share.
– “Bless humanity with spiritual understanding.” When public thought is knocking on the door of consciousness, am I blessing it as a response? Am I healing it with spiritual understanding? This has been helpful in keeping my thought on track.
– I read the whole letter of Mrs. Eddy he quoted from in My 200:9-7. Very applicable for today! Love the prayer from this letter to the church in London, “God spare this plunge, lessen its depths, save sinners and fit their being to recover its connection with its divine Principle, Love.”
-treat and heal misperception so the Comforter is available to all without limitation.
-Share what the world most needs.
-Divine Mind, the only souce of government and law.
-Space in public thought to practice Christian Science. When I read news articles, I have been praying there is space in public thought for the practice of Christian Science to be cherished.
-Christian response = desire for health and safety for all.
-Lift all fear to love.
-Trust that all humanity including Christian Scientists can FEEL peace, patience and God’s love. The Christ is there.
So grateful for you all, Anne

MemberWow! this was really hidden. Took a while to find you. Maybe they can work on making that a little easier. I read your e-mail and clicked on the URL. I though it would take me right to your post. Anyway, glad I found you.
I had just read the Watch Words this morning and several things you mentioned stood out to me too. I really liked “accommodations-the space in law to practice Christian Science-” Nice definition.
I was happy to answer this question posed in the article “what is our opportunity as a church to help bring a sense of peace-and less fear-on this topic, and to give a genuinely Christian response, which naturally includes health and safety for us all?” Our church is hosting a lecture with Giulian Nesi Tetreau. It sounds like she will be addressing this. She included this on the flyer “Do you wonder how to lead a safe and secure life with the threat of pandemic and economic upheaval? An understanding of God as divine Love, present right now, can make a tangible difference in overcoming these issues and finding a way forward.” I know it will help bring a sense of peace and less fear not only to our community but all communities. It will be a webinar. (=
The paragraph about explaining to others why we seek accommodation was also very helpful.
Thanks for mentioning reading the whole letter mentioned from Miscellany on page 200. I really like the part you quoted. and will also look it up.
Thanks for all you do.
Godspeed,

MemberAs I reread Kevin Ness’ message, I realized more clearly that I need not avoid discussions about my point of view as a Christian Scientist, but that it is a wonderful opportunity to share the healing and freeing power that Christian Science affords us. We can give, we can bless. It resonated with Psalms 73:28 it, that is in this week’s Bible Lesson.

ParticipantIt is so good to come back to this sharing from Boston throughout the month. So helpful to be reminded of being “watchful, sober and vigilant.” I also enjoyed linking to the periodicals and reinforcing the need with reports from the Field.
As new levels of “openness” are provided through the State and County, our church is continuing with metaphysical meetings and ongoing support of both virtual and in-person services. It feels like such a progressive step and we are all cherishing the opportunity to see how the Holy Ghost is being revealed every day.

MemberThe “seven-fold shield” reference from Mrs. Eddy popped out from Kevin’s letter.. found this on actsforgod.org:
“Above all” in the context of Ephesians 6:16, is “not above all in point of importance of value, but ‘over-all,’ as a soldier holds his shield to defend himself. It constitutes a protection over every part of his body, as it can be turned in every direction. The idea is, that as the shield covered or protected the other parts of the armor, so faith had a similar importance in the Christian virtues…the shield was an ingenious device by which blows and arrows might be parried off, and the whole body defended… As long as the soldier had his shield, he felt secure; and as long as a Christian has faith, he is safe. It comes to his aid in every attack that is made on him, no matter from what quarter; it is the defense and guardian of every other Christian grace; and it secures the protection which the Christian needs in the whole of the spiritual war… By the ‘fiery darts of the wicked,’ Paul here refers, probably, to the temptations of the great adversary, which are like fiery darts; or those furious suggestions of evil, and excitements to sin, which he may throw into the mind like fiery darts. They are blasphemous and torment the soul. In regard to them, we may observe, 1) that they come suddenly,… 2) they come from unexpected quarters,…3) they pierce, and penetrate, and torment the soul,… 4) they set the soul on fire, and enkindle the worst passions,… The only way to meet them is by the ‘shield of faith;’ by confidence in God, and by relying on his gracious promises and aid. It is not by our own strength; and, if we have not faith in God, we are wholly defenseless. We should have a shield that we can turn in any direction, on which we may receive the arrow, and by which it may be put out” (Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament, Kregel Publications, Grand Rapids, Michigan, p. 1014).
